History of Tapentadol

Tapentadol is a well known pain killer recommended by physicians and medical experts around the world. It is an oral opioid drug prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain including dental, osteoporosis, different types of arthritis and neuropathy in both acute and chronic forms. It is also recommended for treating cancer pain in periods less than 3 months. It is considered a safe opioid drug due to its lower risk of tolerance, abuse and dependence. However the drug was first introduced in US market in 1995 and since then its popularity has grown manifolds.

Tapentadol differs from other opiates in two different ways one it is a fully synthetic drug made in laboratory and is not naturally available. This is unlike morphine and codeine that are natural opiates derived from opium flowers.
