Vardenafil is a drug that is used to treat erectile dysfunction in men (sexual impotence). It's one of a class of drugs known as phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitors. Vardenafil maintains an erection by boosting blood flow after the penis is rubbed. Erectile dysfunction is a prevalent condition affecting men of all ages in which they are unable to obtain and sustain a penile erection in order to engage in sexual activity.

Vardenafil, the main ingredient in Filitra, is a phosphodiesterase 5 (PDE5) inhibitor. It works by inhibiting the phosphodiesterase enzyme, which opens blood vessels and allows blood to flow more freely into the penis. The increased blood flow improves in obtaining and maintaining an erection. Nitric oxide is released into the penile tissue during sexual stimulation under normal circumstances.

Nitric oxide is responsible for the production of cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP), which regulates blood flow into the penis through dilatation and contraction of blood-carrying arteries and helps to achieve an erection. An enzyme called Phosphodiesterase type 5 inhibits the activity of cGMP to prevent erection as part of the natural feedback process. Vardenafil inhibits the PDE 5 enzyme's action on cGMP, allowing the erection to last longer.

This medicine's dosage will vary depending on the patient. Follow your doctor's orders or the label's instructions. Only the typical doses of this drug are included in the following information.

If your dose differs, do not alter it unless your doctor instructs you to. The amount of medicine you take is determined by the medicine's strength. In addition, the number of dosages you take each day, the duration between doses, and the length of time you take the medicine are all determined by the medical problem for which the medicine is being used.

For erectile dysfunction treatment:

Adults—10 milligrams (mg) as a single dose, no more than once per day, roughly 1 hour before sexual activity, in the oral dosage form (disintegrating tablets). It is not suggested for children to use. Adults 65 years and older: 5 milligrams (mg) as a single dose, no more than once per day, roughly 1 hour before sexual activity, for oral dosage form (tablets). If necessary, your doctor may change your dose. However, the daily amount is usually no more than 20 mg.

Side Effects of Filitra 20 Mg Tablet- Vardenafil Tablets

You may experience headaches, flushing, or dizziness. Increased sensitivity to light, blurred vision, or difficulty distinguishing blue and green colors are all possible vision abnormalities. Tell your doctor or pharmacist right away if any of these side effects persist.

Your doctor may prescribe medication to reduce the risk of side effects. The majority of people who take this medicine do not have any substantial adverse effects.

Sexual activity can put your heart under additional strain, especially if you already have heart problems.

If you have a heart condition and develop any of the following Dangerous adverse effects while having sex, stop immediately and seek medical attention:

• Extreme dizziness
• Fainting
• Chest/jaw/left arm discomfort
• Nausea

Stop taking vardenafil and seek medical care right away if the following significant condition develops.

Sudden vision loss, including irreversible blindness, in one or both eyes (NAION), is a rare occurrence.

If you have heart disease, diabetes, high cholesterol, certain other eye disorders ("packed disc"), high blood pressure, are over 50, or smoke, you have a slightly higher risk of having NAION.

A rapid loss of hearing, sometimes accompanied by ringing in the ears and disorientation, can occur in rare cases.

If you get a painful or protracted erection that lasts 4 hours or longer.

If you have any significant adverse effects, such as seizures or brief memory loss, seek medical help right away.

This medicine seldom causes a severe allergic reaction. However, if you detect any symptoms of a major allergic response, such as a rash, itching/swelling (particularly of the face/tongue/throat), extreme dizziness, or problems breathing, seek medical treatment right once. Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to Vardenafil or if you have any other allergies before taking it. Tell your doctor or pharmacist about your medical history, especially if you have had a heart attack or a life-threatening irregular heartbeat in the previous 6 months, chest pain/angina, heart failure, kidney disease (dialysis), liver disease, high or low blood pressure, dehydration, penis conditions), history of painful/prolonged erection

This medication may induce dizziness or vision problems. You may become dizzy if you consume alcohol or marijuana (cannabis). Do not drive, operate machinery, or perform any other activity that requires alertness or clear vision until you are sure you can do so safely. Limit your intake of alcoholic beverages. If you use marijuana, talk to your doctor.

Aspartame may be included in this medicine. Ask your doctor or pharmacist about using this medication safely if you have phenylketonuria (PKU) or any other condition that requires you to limit or avoid aspartame (or phenylalanine) in your diet. Tell your doctor or dentist about all the products you consume before surgery. Women have rarely been prescribed this medicine. It is not recommended for usage during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
